Vent & Air Duct Cleaning

Air Duct Cleaning Services in Durham Region
The air circulating throughout your home plays an important role in your family’s comfort and indoor environment. Over time, dust, debris, pet hair, allergens, and other particles can accumulate within your ductwork, affecting airflow, cleanliness, and overall indoor comfort.
If you notice increased dust, unusual odours, inconsistent airflow, or rooms that feel warmer or cooler than others, professional air duct cleaning may help improve the performance of your HVAC system and the quality of the air moving throughout your home.
At Aire One East Heating & Cooling, we provide professional air duct cleaning solutions throughout Durham Region to help homeowners maintain a cleaner, healthier, and more comfortable indoor environment.
Our team understands that every home is different. We take the time to understand your concerns, evaluate your home’s HVAC needs, and recommend the right approach to improve airflow, comfort, and indoor air quality.

Why Consider Air Duct Cleaning?
Your ductwork is responsible for distributing heated and cooled air throughout your home. Because ducts are located behind walls, ceilings, and floors, dust and debris can accumulate over time without being noticed.
Professional air duct cleaning can be beneficial if you experience:
- Excessive dust throughout your home
- Musty or unpleasant smells coming from vents
- Reduced airflow from registers
- Uneven temperatures between rooms
- Increased allergy or sensitivity concerns
- Recent renovations or construction
- Visible dust buildup around vents
- A noticeable decline in indoor air quality
Keeping your duct system clean helps support better airflow and allows your HVAC system to operate more effectively.

Benefits of Professional Air Duct Cleaning
Improved Indoor Air Quality
Over time, dust, allergens, and debris can collect inside ductwork. Professional cleaning helps remove these contaminants and supports cleaner air circulation throughout your home.
Better Airflow
When ductwork contains significant buildup, airflow may become restricted. Cleaning helps improve air movement and allows your HVAC system to distribute air more effectively.
Reduced Dust and Debris
A cleaner duct system can help reduce the amount of dust being circulated throughout your home, helping you maintain a cleaner living environment.
Improved HVAC Efficiency
Proper airflow allows your heating and cooling equipment to operate more efficiently, reducing unnecessary strain on your system.
Fresher Indoor Environment
Dust, debris, and buildup inside ductwork can contribute to stale or unpleasant odours. Professional cleaning can help create a fresher-smelling home.
When Should You Schedule Air Duct Cleaning?
While every home has different needs, there are certain situations where duct cleaning may be recommended, including:
- After completing major renovations
- When moving into an older home
- Following construction or remodeling projects
- When excessive dust continues despite regular cleaning
- When airflow concerns develop
- When your HVAC system has not been serviced for many years
- When you notice persistent indoor odours
Our team can help you determine whether duct cleaning is the right choice for your home.

Duct cleaning FAQs — honest answers
Duct cleaning is oversold by some contractors, so here is a straight account of when it genuinely helps, when it does not, and what a proper job looks like. We would rather tell you it is unnecessary than sell you a service you do not need.

How often should air ducts be cleaned?
For most homes, every three to five years is a reasonable interval. Push it sooner if you have completed renovation or drywall work, moved into a home with an unknown history, had rodent or insect activity in the ductwork, or can see visible debris when you pull a vent cover. There is no legal requirement and no universal schedule — any company insisting on annual duct cleaning is selling, not advising.
Does duct cleaning actually improve air quality?
It removes settled dust, construction debris and contaminants from the duct interior, which is worth doing when there is genuinely something in there. What it will not do is cure allergies or asthma, and it is not a substitute for regular filter changes and coil cleaning, which do far more for day-to-day air quality. Be sceptical of any duct cleaning pitch built on health claims.
Will duct cleaning reduce dust in my house?
It reduces the dust that is currently sitting in the duct interior and being redistributed each time the blower runs, so most homeowners do notice a difference for a while. But if dust returns quickly, the ducts were not the source. The usual real culprits are a low-grade or overdue filter, leaky return ducts pulling in basement and wall-cavity dust, and gaps around the filter cabinet letting air bypass the filter entirely.
What does a proper duct cleaning include?
A powerful vacuum collection unit connected to the trunk line to put the system under negative pressure, mechanical agitation (brushes or air whips) in each branch to dislodge debris rather than just vacuuming the first metre, cleaning of all supply and return registers, and cleaning of the blower compartment and coil area. A technician with a shop vacuum and a hose is not duct cleaning.
Should I have my dryer vent cleaned too?
Yes, and this one is not optional in the way duct cleaning is. Lint accumulation in a dryer vent is a documented fire hazard, and a restricted vent also makes the dryer run far longer per load. If your clothes are taking noticeably more than one cycle to dry, or the exterior vent flap barely moves when the dryer runs, the duct is restricted. We clean dryer vents as part of our service.
Do I need my ducts sanitised or fogged with chemicals?
In most homes, no. Sanitising sprays and foggers are a common upsell and are only genuinely indicated where there is confirmed microbial growth or contamination, usually following water damage. If there is standing moisture in your ductwork, the answer is to find and fix the moisture source, not to spray over it.
How long does duct cleaning take and do I need to be home?
A typical single-family home takes a few hours depending on the number of runs and the accessibility of the trunk lines. Someone needs to be home to give access to every register and to the mechanical room. Ask the technician to show you the debris collected and the before-and-after condition of a couple of runs — a reputable company will offer this without being asked.
